German k98 mauser rifle for sale12/2/2022 ![]() ![]() Our Assessment: This Single Rune Nazi marked German K98 Mauser was made by Steyr back in 1943 when Austria was part of the Third Reich. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition as refinished. The metal shows light scrapes & some small scratches. Surface erosion and oxidation show through the new finish. Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish as refinished. There is erosion present mostly in the grooves. The stock rates in about Good to Very Good condition as refinished.īore Condition: The grooves are dark and the rifling is deep. ![]() The LOP measures 13 ? inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. Many of these marks have been oiled over. The wood shows numerous scrapes, scratches, and compression marks. The refinished buttplate has small scratches and surface erosion showing through the new finish. Stock Configuration & Condition: The hard wood stock has a pistol grip, nosecap, hole for the included cleaning rod, barrel band with sling bar, through bolt, scallop for the bolt handle, sling well, sling pass through, domed washer and a metal buttplate. The rear sight is a “V” notched blade attached to a sliding sight escalator marked from “1-20”. Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted “V” post set atop a ramped base. The right side of the butt is marked with a faded “eagle / swastika” and 2 faded “eagle / swastikaa / WaA…) Waffenamts. The left side of the butt has been restamped with the serial number. The bolt assembly and other metal parts are marked with numbers that do not correlate to the serial number. The right side of the rear sight base is marked with 2 “eagle / WaA77” stamps. The barrel shank is marked with a faded Nazi “eagle / swastika”, “a i” and “circled W”. The left side of the receiver is marked with a faded Nazi “eagle / swastika”, with the serial number and “Mod. The top of the receiver is marked “bnz / single rune / 43”. ![]() Markings: The import mark under the barrel reads “TG KNOX TN 98K 8MM GERMANY”.
